Lynnwood, Wash. — The organization Tatars of Washington State has announced that its annual Sabantuy celebration will take place on June 7 in Lynnwood, inviting community members across the region to participate in one of the most vibrant cultural festivals of the Tatar people.
Sabantuy, a traditional Tatar and Bashkir festival marking the end of the spring sowing season, is widely known for its lively outdoor activities, folk music, and communal spirit. The event brings together families and visitors of all backgrounds to celebrate heritage through games, performances, and traditional cuisine.
Organizers say the festival will feature a range of classic Sabantuy activities, including folk games, music, and dance. Guests can expect to see popular contests such as tug-of-war, sack races, and the traditional climbing challenge for prizes placed atop a tall pole. Cultural performances highlighting Tatar music and dance traditions are also planned.
Members of the Tatars of Washington State organization say the annual gathering serves both as a cultural celebration and as an opportunity to introduce the broader community to Tatar traditions.
“Sabantuy is about friendship, hospitality, and celebrating the hard work of the season,” organizers said in an announcement. “We welcome everyone—families, neighbors, and friends—to join us.”
